La Ermita de Sant Sebastiá

The Ermita de Sant Sebastiá in Cervera del Maestre is rich in history and was, after a comprehensive restauration, used for the first time as a place of art in 2008. EL-DRAC had been asked by the town administration to present the artist Jo Pellenz and his installation Paperworks.
Since then the Ermita is being used as a location for cultural events and reunions. Besides exhibitions of contemporary art, also concerts, readings and discussion rounds take place there. On the first floor a photo exhibition keeps the record of the urban development of the village Cervera del Maestre.

Activities

In 2009 the town administration del Maestre entrusted EL-DRAC with the organisation of a complete series of events with international artists. From April to October 2009 about 25 artists from 16 European countries will be presented. Cervera del Maestre underlines its intention to offer international art a special and impressive showroom. The Ermita will be included and used during the Vuelta 2009 as well.

Extract from press release for the exhibitions Lo Cotidiano and Día a Día

The young Spanish art by Paz Bunuel, Jordi Castells, Roman Domenech, Rafael Garrit and Victor Garrido covers a wide range from installation to painting and printmaking. The title of the exhibition, "The daily", can also be read as the everyday routine, the ordinary, the human. The artists all live in and for their art, and - even in these times – also from their art. The Casa del Dragón consistently realizes its project of networking local artists with colleagues from across Europe and thus creates a space for dialogue and discussion. In cooperation with the municipal administration of Cervera del Maestre, the exhibition is extended to the Ermita de San Sebastiá, where large-sized works by the Spaniard Roman Domenech and the Israeli artist Inga Burina.
